Are you drinking enough water?
Studies show that 75% of people are dehydrated! This is crazy because hydration plays a major role in the health of bodies and the ability to lose weight. Did you know that being just 1% dehydrated leads to 10 extra heart rate points? Those are 10 points that you did not earn.
One of the best things you can do for yourself is to drink more water. Drinking water is essential to stay alive, you can live without food but you cannot live without water. Dehydration occurs when the body has insufficient water to function properly. While severe dehydration needs to be treated and can lead to fatal complication, mild dehydration can also be problematic.
Not drinking enough water effects your mood, energy, and your skin. It is important to catch any degree of dehydration early, but the signs aren't always obvious ones like thirst and fatigue.
1. Bad breath.
2. Dry skin.
3. Muscle cramps.
4. Food cravings, especially for sweets.
If you're thirsty, you are already dehydrated! But inversely lack of thirst doesn't necessarily mean you're well hydrated. A great way to know if you are hydrated is to check your urine. Your urine should be mostly clear with a tinge of yellow. Darker yellow or orange are the "warning" colors to watch for. If you see those colors, start drinking water!!
Here are some great tips to help you drink more water:
*Keep your water bottle with you.
*Spice up plain water with lemon or try sparkling.
*Try unsweetened herbal tea.
*Eat more fruits and vegetables.
*Sip more during meals.
With summer coming, working out, or if you are trying to lose weight, you definitely need to increase your water intake!
So DRINK UP!!!
